| I'm psychic. So a rumor was circulating a while back that Tim Burton was going to do a version of Alice in Wonderland. I predicted: Johnny as the Mad Hatter. Sure enough--that's the latest rumor. Unverified, but that's the word. Oh I enjoy that idea...it may be animated, which wouldn't be as exciting as live action Johnny as the Mad Hatter, but even the voice will no doubt be fun. Otherwise, not a lot of news...heading back to SF in a week and a half!!! I'm actually going down this weekend to go to the Renaissance Faire, and move a few more things into the apartment. The summer seems to have gone pretty fast...but on the other hand, I'm ready to go back. | | |
| Still working at Coldwater. Still doing internship stuff. But in the realm of more newsworthy news, I went down to San Francisco earlier this week. I needed to do some apartmental stuff, and also I'd been promising my friend Susan I'd visit this summer so I wanted to make good on that. The apartment lovely--you all have to come visit at some point. And if I'm being realistic about who's reading this I expect "you all" means Krystine and Meaghan--and you're certainly have to come visit some time! So it was a productive two days for getting apartmental stuff done, and I did get to hang out with Susan. We went to see WALL-E which was delightful. Very cute, very funny, had a good message, and I adore Michael Crawford even more now. I swear that really is him singing. (Though really I think I adore his voice...I like him well enough). Other news, other news...my parents and I got together with my aunt last weekend to finally sort through all the boxes of old photos my grandma had. She died three years ago and my aunt ended up with most of them and we've been meaning to go through and divide up ever since. The oldest is from 1902 (my grandpa's father Patrick Mahoney who came over from County Cork, Ireland) and there's a lot of my grandma as a little girl and my grandparents in the thirties. Oh, and there's pictures of my grandma's father, who was a merchant marine, and who went to Egypt in the 1920s and had the foresight to get pictures of himself climbing the Sphinx (I have a feeling they don't let you do that anymore). Anyway, they're really kind of amazing, and I'm fascinated by old family photos and things like that, so I've been rather excited about it lately... Other than that, life just keeps rolling along... | | |
| Yay for furnishing apartments! :) I spent a lot of this weekend assembling furniture from IKEA, but it's all done now and looks pretty good. Just have to get it down there...which is why we hired movers for next weekend. I like my big comfy armchair--which I definitely want to curl up in with a book and hot chocolate! Looking at it, it actually kind of reminds me of the furniture in that one Muppets Show skit...about the furniture that was eating people...but maybe that's just me. | | |
| So I just went to the wonderful world of IKEA...bought a bunch of stuff for my apartment in SF. Semi-crucial stuff like, you know, a bed... It's exciting and sort of scary to be furnishing an apartment. But mostly exciting! I got a nice armchair too, so for the first time in my life I will actually have somewhere nice to sit in my bedroom. :) Other news than that...I am excited that there's actually blue sky out my window right now. And I am excited about meeting up with a few people tomorrow. Speaking of which, say, Krystine...when can you come visit? :) Or else we need to figure a time to go visit you... | | |
